  • Programming
  • Data Representation
  • Boolean Logic

Biology

English

You must ensure that you have excellent annotations on all the anthology poetry and non-fiction texts and that your top ten sheets are complete. You must also complete some of the activities from the Summer to September booklet, including the self-reflection tasks. Reading the modern novel, you have been assigned is vital, as is completing any re-done coursework your teacher has suggested you write.

Religious Studies

Knowledge checklists and exam style questions for papers can be found on Firefly:

For the Christianity paper, click here.

For the Religion, Philosophy and Ethics paper, click here.

Short answers tasks

Complete a group of shorter (3 and 6 mark) exam style questions under exam conditions. Then, complete the same question again in a different colour pen, using notes/books to help you. Now mark both versions of the answers. Now try and evaluate your performance and split topics into three categories:

  • Things I don’t remember – these are more likely to be things that you got correct with the notes, but you didn’t get the marks without notes
  • Things I don’t understand – these are more likely to be things that you didn’t get correct whether you had notes or not
  • Issues with exam technique – these are spotted when you mark the answers yourself

With the things you don’t remember, spend some time going over them individually using other memory techniques. For things that you don’t understand – seek out some help.

Word Definitions

A selection of keywords can be found on Firefly here. Pick a section of the specification and identify the key words and phrases. Now write out definitions of those words. This will make you think about what you are writing and how you define them. Now write your words and definitions on different cards and see how quickly you can match them. Try using the cards to play pairs or snap – if the word matches the definition, that’s a match.

There are newer exam papers and mark schemes available on the exam board website.

Geography

Expected Work - Choose 1 or more learning grids from the list below on topics from the course so far. You should select the topics you did less well in for the end of year exam, these should be agreed with your class teacher. Submit fully completed learning grids in September.

Learning Grids:

Recommended work - Review the course content from this year by watching GCSEPod revision videos and using Educake to set yourself quizzes

History

This summer you should spend time revising your content knowledge. You have done a lot of work this year learning content and how to structure answers to exam questions. This summer focus on revising your content knowledge, because even if you know the structure for a marked question, you won’t earn many marks without content knowledge.

You should use GCSE pod.

You should also watch these Crash Course videos. You can slow down the speed if you like as he often talks quite quickly. But they’re a great revision of some of the things you learned this year.

French

Physics

Spanish

Use the Resources available on One Note and the Extra Practice page on Firefly to practice Listening and Reading Skills here: Extra Practice. You must complete the booklet on Topic Area C ready to hand in at the start of term. For more guidance, please refer to the Spanish Firefly page, found here.

German

Please refer to the German Firefly page for guidance, found here.

Music

Individual tasks have been set for pupils via Firefly. This is a mixture of:

  1. Additional practice of listening questions for the set works covered in the end-of-year exam
  2. Additional practice of musical dictation
  3. A task to create the first minute of a composition that will form the basis of coursework next term. If students do not already have access to Sibelius at home, this will be enormously helpful for the task.

Pupils can access their materials via the Firefly task they have been set.
